Frankinsence And Myrrh

As winter deepens and the holidays draw near, many of us cannot help but remember all the nostalgic memories, myths, songs and traditions that we've learned throughout our lives pertaining to this particular season. Recently at my shop, I hosted an event called Psychic Sunday, where a friend of mine gave a talk on plant medicine, and in particular, the healing and magic properties of Frankincense. This information was all new to me -- and in fact, Frankincense was mostly on my radar only because of Christmas lore and carols: I knew that Frankincense and myrrh were given as gifts to Jesus at his birth. During the talk, I learned that Frankincense is one of the most ancient medicines; it is the sap of a shrubby tree (as is Myrrh). In ancient times, Frankincense was worth more than gold, and wars were fought over it. (This is why it was brought as a gift to the birth of Jesus in the bible; it's value was unmatched). To this day, Frankincense acts as a powerful healing agent, and still comes with a high price tag. Frankincense, once ingested, will run through your body and do a scan of all of your cells, finding cells that are abnormal or unhealthy and encouraging them to die off, leaving more healthy cells in your body. I loved learning about the mystic power around Frankincense, it's powerful healing potential, and it's ancient value through time and culture. It inspired my to incorporate Frankincense medicine into my life and start my own relationship with the plant and medicine, as it's never really been on my radar. The funny thing was, the day after I heard the talk from, I was gifted a bag of pure Frankincense resin from an old friend. My journey with Frankincense has officially begun!
