Triskele

This post is inspired by a friend of my mother. She had her name legally changed to Triskele when she became an American citizen (she's from Poland originally). I've never heard it used as a name before, but had the vague idea that it was the name of a symbol that involved the number three. When I looked into it and first saw the actual symbol, I thought, "Hey, I saw that at Newgrange!"The triskele (pronounced "TRYS-kee-ul" or "TRI-skee-ul", but the person I know pronounces it "TRYS-kul") is a symbol that looks like three interlocking spirals. It was carved into a number of ancient Irish buildings, including the rocks of Newgrange. Newgrange is believed to be a prehistoric tomb, although this claim is debatable. It was built sometime between 3100 and 2900 BC. Many historians believe that the building must have had some religious significance. When I visited Newgrange last summer, they showed us that the building is aligned so that the rising sun pours in through an opening above the entrance during the winter solstice.This symbol appears in other countries besides Ireland. The triskele appears throughout much of Western Europe, where the Celts are from. In Brittany (Northern France), the triskele is used as their regional symbol and is placed on many tourism and fashion items.A similar symbol called the triskelion appears in ancient Greek, Sicilian, Spanish, and Manx art. Both triskele and triskelion are Greek for "three-legged", which should give you a hint as to what a triskelion looks like. It's a bizarre image of three legs bent at the knee and joined together at the hip. It's found on ancient coins, pottery, and is an emblem on the flags of Sicily and the Ilse of Man.No one knows what the triskele meant to the ancient Pagans. In modern times it has been used to stand for a number of different things. This symbol is important to many Neo-Pagans that focus on Celtic traditions, like Celtic Reconstructist Paganism. In CRP the symbol stands for the "three realms": land, sea, and sky. It is often used to symbolize the Irish god of the sea Manannan mac Lir (probably because it kind of looks like waves, but I think it looks like a thumbprint, personally), but is sometimes used for the goddess Brigid. Wiccans sometimes interpret the symbol as the three stages of the Goddess (Maiden, Mother, and Crone). Christians have used it to represent the Holy Trinity, and it appears in many illuminated manuscripts. It has a less honorable connection as well: a variation of a triskele (three interlocking sevens) was invented by the Nazis.As I said before, I've only ever heard of this name on my mom's friend. I have no idea what her original name was or why she was so attracted to Triskele. No baby name resource I could find lists it. A quick google search came up with at least one Neo-Pagan that goes by Triskele, but that's it. My spellchecker doesn't even know what to make of it. But I think it's an awesome name for anyone, even with the tricky pronunciation. The familiar "Trish" and "Kelly" could be reasonable nicknames. For those unfamiliar with the names origin, it might not even register as a "witchy" name. Just a highly unusual one. Understanding The Warrior Goddess

When I tell most people my patron Goddess in the Morrigan usually their first questions is "Why would you want to worship a Goddess of war?" Those who have worked with the Great Queen will already know the Morrigan has many faces and aspects, war and battle only being one of them. But it is this attribute, one she shares with many other Dark Goddesses, that sadly makes some people question working with her. Why is it that we fear the warrior Goddess? She appears to us in many forms, and across several cultures. In Egypt she was Sekhmet, the lioness Goddess who drank the blood of her enemies. In Greek she was Athena, goddess of wisdom and war. As Durga she was called upon by the Gods to battle demons, as only she had the power and strength to defeat them. She is Kali, Oya, Andraste, Freya, Bellona, and many others. In so many cultures the warrior Goddess was revered and held sacred. She defended clan and country, her fierceness filled enemies with despair. Those she favored were blessed with courage, battle frenzy and victory. Yet now she has become to many a deity to be avoided. What has changed? Have we suddenly recognized these Goddesses as representing something dangerous or have our attitudes towards her mysteries changed? I think part of why we are afraid of the warrior Goddess is because our concept of war has drastically changed. We live in a world where we don't have to worry about our food being stolen by people in the neighboring town. The battlefields our armed forces fight and die on are often far away, leaving us with the illusion that the violence of war is something distant, only to be viewed from afar on TV. Modern warfare more often than not is motivated by political agendas, but to our ancestors war was often an aspect of everyday life and most importantly survival. In the Morrigan's case we must remember that warriors were held in high esteem in the Celtic mind and that the warrior caste was one of the highest in their society. Why? Because they kept everyone safe. Take a moment to bring some of our modern day warriors to mind: our military personnel, our police officers and firefighter. Soldiers and police officers sometimes need to use force and violence to protect us. It's part of their job. They aren't evil people because they use force. We hold them in esteem for doing a difficult and dangerous job, one that protects the rest of us and maintains peace (most of the time) in the world. In many ways this is how the warrior archetype, divine and otherwise, was seen by ancient Pagans. When we consider this the warrior Goddess isn't so unapproachable. Her nature is sometimes fierce, she is a Dark Goddess, her lessons difficult, but she is not by any means evil, nor is there any reason why modern practitioners should avoid working with her. Generally war Gods or Goddesses reflect the type of warfare their culture participated in, embodying their ideals of honor and glory on the battlefield. War itself varies from culture to culture. The highly organized warfare of the Roman legions bears little resemblance to the somewhat haphazard style of warfare the Celts participated in or for that matter to our modern day high tech approach to war. Irish warfare in particular revolved around cattle raids. Cattle where seen as the ultimate source of wealth, were used as currency to pay debts and as bride prices. The fact that Celtic warfare revolved around cattle, (and ultimately sovereignty over the land and its wealth) is reflected in their Goddess of war, as the Morrigan is usually occupied in stealing cattle, herding them or making it difficult for others to obtain them; all functions that reflect the Celtic cosmology of warfare. Oddly enough the Morrigan's male counterparts Dagda, Lugh and Bran who participated in battle do not retain a stigma for being "bloodthirsty" or "evil". The fact that the Morrigan is female and connected to battle makes her dangerous. Although women have gained equality with men in many ways we are still afraid of women who are dominate. War in the modern mind is still very much thought of as belonging to the realm of men. Women who participate in it become unfeminine and unnatural. Women today who aggressively pursue their dreams and desires, (whether that be a career or other goals in life) and who stand up for themselves are often accused of acting like men. This is especially true in the business world. Unfortunately the message our culture is sending women is that strength and power belong to the realm of men and it is unnatural for women to display these traits. Yet they can be found in warrior goddesses in cultures all around the globe. Ultimately our concept of war and that of the Celts (or any ancient culture for that matter) is vastly different. We can neither divorce Morrigan from war, nor can we call her evil for being a Goddess of battle. Like the warriors the Celts revered, she protects her people, inspires those who take a stand, and guards her children. She reflects the Celtic concept of battle and war, not our modern ones. That is not to say she cannot be called upon in this guise today, just that to understand her role as a Goddess of war we must keep in mind the culture she came from. But where does that leave the modern worshiper? Can the warrior Goddess still have a role in our lives today? Absolutely. Her role in our lives may have changed compared to that of our ancestors, but that does not mean we should abandon her mysteries. The warrior Goddess, in all her many guises, is concerned with all forms of conflict and its resolution, and her knack for bringing victory to those who invoke her make her a powerful ally when dealing with life's problems. Embracing the warrior Goddess has nothing to do with brandishing a sword or joining the military. You can be a pacifist and still work with a warrior deity. Modern warriors can be found in the most mundane places. The single mom working two jobs to provide for her family, firefighters, police officers, teachers, social workers and environmental activists, these are all warriors and draw on the power of the warrior Goddess. People who draw on an inner strength to help themselves and others, all embody the warrior spirit. The warrior Goddess challenges us to stand up and be counted, to draw on our inner strength and champion life's battles. She knows the most important wars are not the physical ones. Whether it is overcoming an obstacle in life or fighting our inner demons the warrior Goddess is there to champion our cause. Maybe the warrior Goddess will challenge you to fight a "war" against poverty by working to help low income families. Maybe your "war" will be against animal cruelty and you will feel drawn to donate time at an animal shelter. Maybe you wish to draw on her strength to settle a conflict, to end an abusive relationship, to confront sexual harassment in the work place, or negotiating a raise from your boss. Whatever you do, whatever your battle, when life has you down say a prayer to the warrior Goddess. She is always there, waiting for us to embrace her, ready to offer us victory.

Mars Another Silverback And The Sun Devil State

UPDATE: "PLEASE BE SURE TO READ THE COMMENTS SECTION FOR SOME VERY INTRIGUING OBSERVATIONS AND UPDATES TO THIS STUDY..."

This symbolism is becoming "so obvious" that it can no longer be ignored. The convergence of the symbolism is becoming "so intricate" that it can no longer be interpreted as anything but suspect.

Friends, I defy anyone to explain to me "any form of logic" that says that this is all just "mere coincidence" that we're watching unfold before our very eyes, and not some sort of "spiritual convergence" (even if we can't quite make sense of it all or discern the true relevance to us Christians who are fervently waiting and watching for the Lord's return).

What in the world am I talking about? Well, only the "biggest news" to be reported yesterday, but news that was also barely acknowledged by most as though it were a ho-hum announcement.

"NASA: EVIDENCE OF LIFE ON MARS"

NASA scientists last night unveiled compelling evidence of life on Mars. A special mission to the Red Planet has revealed the likely presence of a form of pond scum - the building blocks of life as we know it.

NASA unveiled the results of the recent Opportunity and Spirit probes sent millions of miles through the solar system to discover signs of extraterrestrial life.

The results are so promising boffins have already planned a host of other missions to discover whether there is extraterrestrial life in the universe.

The recent missions have gathered evidence of sulphates on Mars, a strong indication there is water on the planet and therefore life. Previous missions to Mars have concluded there is probably water on the planet. But the NASA boffins said the recent missions have gone further than any others in proving there is life on Mars.

They were particularly excited about the discovery of a sulphate called gypsum which, it has emerged recently, is found in large quantities among fossils in the Mediterranean.

Jack Farmer, researcher at the Arizona State University, in Tempe, Arizona, said he was "optimistic" there was - or had been - life on Mars.

Incredibly, that was the the first of a one-two-punch from NASA yesterday that I'm sure they expected would send shock waves around the world.

The other? ASTRONOMERS FIND LOADS OF ICE ON BIG ASTEROID. And so in the mere span of a few hours, Scientists attempted to try to minimize the beautiful mystery that is Creation by our Creator by attempting to "prove" to us that life isn't so uncommon after all.

What gives? Are they gearing up for an even bigger announcement perhaps? It would appear that way. I mean, not only did those two stories (pretty big ones by NASA's standards) come on the heels of one another on the VERY SAME DAY (normally, you'd spread out news like that and get as much free, positive publicity for your organization as you can), but I just read ANOTHER related story that ups-the-ante so to speak and puts the cards on the table to complete the Poker metaphor. This was the headline from an MSNBC report filed just 2 hours ago: SEARCH FOR ALIEN LIFE MAY TAKE GIANT LEAP FORWARD.

Yep, like I said, there was some "big news" reported yesterday and the world had no idea. Of course, I'm being facetious here. We all know what "breaking news" like this is being fed to us for. It's all a necessary part of the build-up to the coming "Great Deception" if you will. You better believe that a HUGE part of that worldwide deception will include "answers" regarding so-called "extraterrestrial life" in other parts of the universe.

Personally, I believe that Satan would be an absolute fool to allow the the entire so-called "Alien/UFO" phenomenon to pass without at least attempting to hijack people's sensibilities about the subject and use it to his advantage (assuming God lets him).

So, all of that is to simply say that this news wasn't shocking to me at all. However, you wanna know what was shocking to me? Seeing another story featured alongside this one in the "Related Stories" box about a "GORILLA" SEEN IN SNAPSHOT FROM MARS!

Their words, not mine. Are you kidding me!?! But just to make sure we didn't miss the point, this new image of a supposed "Silverback Gorilla on Mars" that was released to the public back in March 2010, also recalled to mind THE "BIGFOOT ON MARS" IMAGE FROM 2008, and that DEFINITELY ties in with what we began looking at on last Sunday when we wondered about the strange "Silverback" and "Bigfoot" symbolism that was appearing everywhere.

"SILVERBACK, OBAMAS IN THE 'TAR HEEL STATE', NEPHILIM" because I'm now CONVINCED that as "absurd" as it may have seemed to some to be researching and writing about such things, there's got to be a reason why the Holy Spirit led us there that day. For good measure, we might also want to go back and read THIS COLUMN ON SOME STRANGE GORILLA SYMBOLISM AND THE POPE/VATICAN FROM BACK IN DECEMBER 2009.

I even highlighted a place called MARS HILL is a town just 15 miles from Asheville, NC. I just figured I throw that out there too.

Like I said, you have to go back and re-read that post from last Sunday, April 25, 2010, just a few days ago, and view the pictures and read the facts. Maybe I'm overreacting here. Maybe I'm missing something that one of you might be able to discern.

Back to this NASA announcement about Mars for a moment. See, this is why I think that the fictional scenario presented in a film like "Capricorn One" (also involving Mars!) could very well manifest itself in the real-world in the form of "Project Blue Beam" let's say, and a simulated "anything from outer space".

Why do I think that? Well, because here we have NASA making what should be a MAJOR announcement to the world, and what does the world do in response? They simply yawn.

For an organization that's struggling to maintain relevance in this day and age of economic hardship where federal budgets are reduced significantly, it makes PERFECT sense that they would try to generate some kind of scenario that would force the U.S. government (maybe even the governments of the world) to pump an endless stream of money into the institution to help keep its doors open (again, just like in the movie "Capricorn One"!). We might want to start to consider how THE SUPER-SECRET X-37B just MIGHT play into all of this.

Also, I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the "fictional" presentation of what it would be like to experience "Alien" visitors to our planet like the one shown to us on the hit TV series "V" because that's probably how it will play out in the near future.

Here's another thing I need to comment on. By the way, I just love (being facetious again) that this European publication quotes a Researcher from TEMPE, ARIZONA -- of all places -- to comment on this breaking news.

First and foremost, Tempe is right around the corner from Phoenix, AZ. The PHOENIX, of course, is one of those New World Order symbols that we're all familiar with, right? In other words, we know why it's a significant symbol to our common enemy and those loyal to him.

Tempe used to be where the NFL's Arizona "CARDINALS" used to play at "SUN DEVIL STADIUM", which brings us full circle to the National Football League and the "Silverback" comment that started it all last week. Tempe is also home to the "SUN DEVILS", and it's the "SUN DEVIL STATE" to some, which I found rather appropriate to our studies. Athletes at Arizona State University are known as "Sun Devils" a nickname adopted in 1946 (earlier nicknames were the "Normals", or the "OWLS" and, later, the "Bulldogs", which also raise some eyebrows given past studies too).

Funny thing about that year 1946. That was when World War II officially ended when we dropped two atomic bombs on Japan. I only bring that up because some of you have pointed out how the controversy (and charges of a conspiracy) surrounding the recent Polish plane crash that killed a majority of their government leaders is quite odd in that history tells us it was an attack and invasion of Poland that began World War II, and we're left to wonder if this "plane crash" was symbolic of the beginning of World War III if, in fact, there's any truth to the charges of conspiracy and foul play (like I believe that there is).

Ok, what else? Again, just the mere fact that a Researcher from Tempe, AZ -- of all places -- was one of the few people chosen to comment on this story is intriguing to me for two reasons.

Any discovery of so-called "Alien" life (sentient "Alien" life) with undeniable proof (something on the scale of a "Full Disclosure/First Contact" or "Project Blue Beam" type of event) would be a game-changer; it would be paradigm-shifting indeed.

Well, how ironic is it then, to find that "at this very same moment", it is in nearby Phoenix, AZ where this whole Immigration Reform debate began, which is an issue that threatens to be a watershed moment, a paradigm-shifting event if you will, for this entire nation based on the outcome? I just found the correlation between the two, and the fact that both could be major world-changing events for most people, to be quite unusual.

In addition, keep in mind the other related news that broke earlier this week as a sort of introduction to this story. British physicist Stephen Hawking said this week that "Aliens" might be traveling through the cosmos right now, but he warned they might have evil intentions. It's becoming a trademark phrase with me these days, but I have to say it again -- "What are the odds of all this, right?"

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter if I'm "right" or "wrong" about all of this. I engage in these types of discussions and studies because I already know that God has intervened in my life -- on more than one occasion -- in very real and personal ways, defying all expectation and logic.

Given that fact, and given the fact that I have an intense interest in end times Bible prophecy (so that I can demonstrate to people how time is short and they need to accept Jesus Christ today), I'm constantly fascinated by these sorts of unexplained connections.

The only thing that matters, however, is your current relationship with Jesus. Humble yourself! Recognize that you are a sinner! Repent! Seek the Lord's face! Pray for the blood of Jesus Christ to wash over you and yours, and for it to protect you, and that you are counted worthy to escape the things to come because it's certainly coming, and it's coming fast!

Regardless of where you're coming from as you visit this site and read this please join me in saying one of the following prayers since one of them will most certainly apply:

"Father God, I know I need You because I am a sinner, but also know that I can never get to You on my own. There's nothing I can do on my own to make up for my sins; nothing I could do on my own to earn favor and forgiveness from You or to secure my place in Heaven when I die. The only thing I can do is to make a conscious decision that You sent Your one and only Son Jesus Christ, and that He came to this world for me. He took my sins upon Himself, was crucified in my place, died for me, and was resurrected so that I may live forever. I accept Him and His sacrifice, and desperately want to receive Your Son Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. When He conquered death for my sake He gave me access to You. Thank You for Your grace and Your mercy. Thank You for forgiving me and for sending the Holy Spirit to transform my life from this moment forward. I pray that You transform my life from this day forward and give me a heart and a mind that desires to not only get to know You, but to be with You as much as possible. Teach me how to live, and teach me how to share this message with others before it's too late for them. Please count me worthy to escape the things to come. Amen."

If you're already a saved Christian, but you haven't repented for your sins or sought the Lord for His mercy, forgiveness, salvation, or prayed that you are counted worthy to escape the things to come as we're instructed to, if you haven't done all these things in awhile, then please say the following prayer right now:

"Dear Lord, I pray that you will not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions. Please think of me according to Your mercy and for Your goodness' sake, O Lord. Lord I turn from all of those sins that I committed and I ask for Your help in washing the memory and thoughts of that sin completely from my mind. Please restore me to faithful obedience to Your Word, and fill me with Your Holy Spirit anew, so that I may keep Your commands all the days of my life. Lord Jesus, I invite you into my heart anew today, and I ask forgiveness for all of my sin. Jesus, thank you for dying for my sins and for forgiving me of them through your shed blood for me on the cross. Please take away all the sinful 'old things' in my heart that defile me, and replace them with the 'good things' that you desire to grow in to my life. Please wash away all the sinful crud and tendencies toward evil and replace them with a hunger and thirst for your righteousness. I need your help, Lord God, in living this new life in Christ. Please send your Holy Spirit afresh into my life to help me, heal me, lead me and transform me. I also pray that your shed blood washes over me, protects me, and that I am counted worthy to escape the things that are coming upon this world in the form of your righteous judgment. Lastly, I pray that you have mercy on this nation even though we deserve your fierce judgment for our blatant sins that are before you. Help us to see the error in our ways as individuals and as a nation, and lead us to repentance before it's too late for us. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen."

Please keep in mind that we can't just utter some 30-second prayer and "make everything ok" in our lives, and square things up with the Lord. It has to be a genuine, heartfelt, humble repentance you give through faith in Jesus Christ that He will have mercy on you and forgive you from your sins. Then, it's turning your life over to Him so that He is truly your Lord and Savior from this moment on.

Now that we're back on the right track in this life let's all use what little precious time we have left drawing that much closer to God while sharing His life-saving message with as many people as we can before it's too late for us and too late for them.

Remember that if you're worth dying for, then He's worth living for. Begin a new life in Jesus Christ today and commit to getting to know Him and serving Him daily.

What is the relevance of all of this (if any) to the Body of Christ at this late and urgent hour? Are we being primed and prepared for what's coming by being gently nudged by the Holy Spirit to consider such possibilities and our likely response as Christians should they occur?

If I had to guess, and this is PURE SPECULATION on my part, but with all this symbolism involving "Bigfoot", and "Silverback Gorillas", and "Sun Devils", and "Cardinals" I would have to think that something quite profound is in store for the church, but particularly for the Catholic Church of Rome, the Pope, and the Vatican.

THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IN ROME AND THE VATICAN IS MADE UP OF CARDINALS. THE POPE IS OTHERWISE KNOWN BY HIS OFFICIAL TITLE AS THE "PRIMATE OF ITALY".
